I wanted to upgrade my rig and was looking for a processor and a gpu for a good gaming experience. I found that the combination of amd fx 6300 and gtx 750 ti was good enough to give me a good fps (latest games like cod bo3, arkham knight and assassins Creed Unity etc) and also they fit my budget. Now i know that this combo is good enough but the real ques.. is it that good to support future games??

Thanks.. I think i will go with fx6300 i guess, after watching the gameplays on youtube.. as this combo is capable of supporting even unoptimized games with quite good fps.
But what is main differrence between them(x4 and fx6300) other than price and cores?
And also please help me out with a compatible board(range around $60-80)

I'm not the most experienced member on this forum so this isn't an expert opinion. Just my 5p worth :)

These are pretty old hardware...did you choose them due to budget? Otherwise, Core i5 (4460 or 4590) would've been a better choice.

As for the GPU, what games are you going to play? Also, what's your gaming quality expectation? e.g. 60fps on 1080p. If you're talking Witcher 3, Fallout 4...I would've though 750 Ti's performance would be limited.

Thanks for replying :)
Yeah i chose them due to my limited budget. i5 is way outta my league right now else would have definitely opted for it.
As for the gpu i've heard a lot about it and im talking about the latest games as u said like Cod bo3, witcher 3, fallout4, ac-syndicate and unity and arkham knight with atleast 50-60fps on good display(would not say 1080p) with high settings.
I saw the gameplays of few of these games(with this gpu and processor)and almost all of these games gave atleast 40 fps. And as i said above even unoptimized games ran good.
Thnks again though.

No worries. Fair enough. I didn't even know 750Ti could handle these games - that's pretty cool.
Come back and let us know how it goes once you've done the upgrade :)
Cheers.

interested in this as well.

Here is my 2 cents though especially on a budget.

I buy prebuilds, my current is a hp 8200 elite ($100) and it came with an i7-2600. The processor in there is still a top tier processor according to tom's list ( 2nd tier). This prebuild can hold 2 tb of hard disk space (way more then I will ever need). After it arrived it had 4 gigs of ram so when I had the money I upgraded to 32 gigs ram ($100 total) and transferred my Power color radeon HD 7750 from a previous computer. I am now putting in a gigabyte 750 ti ($125).

The reason I have done it this way is cost, future proofing, and I believe in energy efficiency. Most gamers will cringe at using such a prebuild for gaming and many for decent reasons, but for budget gaming they are excellent. The reason gamers may cringe is the graphics rail is limited to 75 watts and the power supply has no extra power cord to plug in a graphics card so the max wattage available for a graphics card is 75 watts. The ati radeon 7750 is 55 watts, and the nvidia 750 ti is 60 watts. These prebuilds can handle many midrange cards and can play games at decent settings, many maxed out. In the future I will just have to upgrade the graphics card and that is all, at least until my i7 cant handle things anymore or 32 gigs of ram is not enough.

Total cost $325.

Of course you could always pop an aftermarket power supply into said prebuilt and get an r9 380 or 380x, then you can laugh at the 750ti.

Op if your budget is that tight, I know a lot of guys on here don't like used parts, but you might get on ebay and try to find a Radeon 7950 for example. A card like that would put you near gtx 960 territory. Also you can find them cheap. I bought one last year for 120 bucks. Been a great card for me, between that and my fx 8 core that is overclocked, I think I can be good another year.

I will say also that I used to have a Radeon 7850, which performs about the same as the 750ti, difference between the 7850 and 7950 is pretty decent.

Except I game on Linux, and believe it or not the 750 ti out performs the r9 fury and series in many ways on Linux. Mainly because ATI has extremely craptastic drivers for Linux but nvidia has excellent drivers on Linux. But the power supply would not be a bad idea, but I like efficiency. for the OP it may be a good idea.
