my motherboard GIGABYTE 970A-UD3P
i just got a new SSD yesterday and my mother board takes about twice as long to boot as windows does( might be alittle exadrated, i havent times them each to see how long they take lol ). ill press the power and about 6 or so seconds later you hear the post beep then the motherboard logo screen shows up and it does its thing for about 15 more seconds then windows boots

To take full advantage of the SSD, you'll need to tweak the BIOS boot settings to get the fastest possible boot time. For me, it reduced a 25 second boot time unoptimized to a mere 10 seconds.

In the boot section of your BIOS, enable fast boot, disable everything else like POST and anything that relates to the initialization of components, except USB initialization, which should be left at partial initialization (If not, you'll have to reset CMOS to get into the BIOS again). Also make sure that your SSD has first priority in the boot order, else the BIOS will check for an OS on your HDD before checking the SSD.

i messed around alittle in the bios and i timed my boot time
10.97 seconds for motherboard post beep
34.97 seconds for the lock screen to pop up
44.10 seconds for everything to boot up (timed til i seen seen skype sign in(normally the last thing to auto start on my pc))

why would it take so long for the initial post on the motherboard?

Turn the Gigabyte picture/logo screen off, you'll see better what's going on at boot time. On my GA-990XA-UD3 it takes longest time to recognize drives in AHCI mode, after that it goes fast. In IDE mode that step is avoided but that's not good for SSDs. There's not much you can do about it just make sure that you manually set BOOT order and disk BOOT order to start with right disk. It also helps for BOOT disk, specially SSD to be in the first SATA port (SATA3_0). Between sign in screen and full system usability, less of startup programs you have, the better but your result of about 10 seconds is good.

Your POST time is quite long. I get 10 seconds to the start up screen.

What OS are you using? And what model of SSD? Those can affect the start up time too. The suggestion about start up programs is good - look at what programs start up with windows, and disable any unwanted ones.

What is your CPU mdoel, and how much RAM do you have?

i did turn the logo screen off and it did seem to help some and i changed a setting about booting in uefi or legacy and i tried uefi only and didnt get a boot so i changed it to legacy only boot and it seems to work fine
when i first got my ssd and cloned it it was originally plugged in to Sata3_4 and the motherboard only read the first 2 ( 0 &1 ) so i changed it and put it in SATA_0 and works and boots from the SSD only

my OS is windows 7 64bit the SSD is SanDIsk Ultra II 480gb (still took the same length of time when i had the mechanical drive in ) my CPU is a AMD FX 8320 @ 3.5ghz with 16gb of ram (in 4 sticks)

i went in and changed some of the start up programs and it didnt really seem to change all that much
