Motherboard/BIOS CAN't detect M.2 SSD SM951

I recently bought a M.2 SSD sm951 but i can't figure to install windows 8.1 pro on it. The bios doesn't see the SSD at all. I changed the settings to UEFI and AHCI. my motherboard is a MSI b150 MATE.

I just found out that my motherboard only supports SATA-600 m2. can this be the reason?

can anyone help?

From MSI, they say it does support nvme, I think it may the BIOS problem. Check the BIOS version. In the download section, the C2 version is for " Improved NVME device compatibility." http://www.msi.com/product/motherboard/support/B150-PC-MATE.html#support_download If you don't install the OS yet, you can use the series number to check the BIOS version http://www.msi.com/page/warranty/#w-mb
