Setting cloned SSD as primary drive with hdd as secondary drive

I cloned my HDD to my SSD (including my OS). I unplugged my HDD and booted up windows. The SSD make windows boot in no time at all. When I plug in both the SSD & HDD in, the OS seems to be boot at the rate that the HDD would normally boot at. I want to boot from the SSD not the HDD, how can I do this? I have tried changing the boot order, switched sata to AHCI, and messed with legacy/UEFI mode with no avail. I have an alienware X51 bios V.A10. As of now both the HDD and SSD are identical and both have windows 10 on them.

Cool.
And it's not just 'reformat'
You need to delete all existing partitions on that. Just formatting "D" will leave behind the existing boot partition on that HDD.
That needs to go away as well.

Disk Management is your friend here.

Well an easy solution would be to re-format the HDD.

If the clone was successful and the SSD has all the data, you can go into Disk Management and re-format the HDD so that the OS isn't on it.

**Re-formatting the HDD will wipe ALL data currently on it, so make sure you have anything you want to keep from it either transfrerred or backed up to a different location before formatting.

- To open Disk Management in Windows 10, right-click the start button on the lower left corner of the desktop. This will bring up a menu where you can select 'Disk Management.'

- From there you can select your HDD drive by right-clicking the drive and choosing to quick format. This will erase all data from the drive, making all if its storage available and removing the OS.

Before you do anything else...
Disconnect the old HDD
Does it boot properly from only the SSD?

"Well an easy solution would be to re-format the HDD. " well I think this might work but what if it still tries to boot from the hdd and there isn't an os on there? My computer came prebuilt and I don't jab the Windows cd.

When I have both the hdd and ssd plugged in they seem to loop/flash my screen infinitely while trying to load the log in screen. Would this work if I only have the hdd plugged in and reformatted the hdd while it is the only drive?

You can't format the HDD if it is the only drive and the OS is booted from that.

1. Verify your boot order. SSD first
2. Start it up
3. Disk Management. See which drive is shown as "C"

Can you post a screencap of your Disk Management Window, when both drives are connected.

Wait- I swapped the SATA ports and now both the hdd and ssd are working? I am sorry I have no idea why this worked. I've swapped them before but I guess third times the charm. Thanks, I'll probably reformat my hdd anyways
