I have had this Compaq Presario CQ60-211DX for years. (bought new only owner) It came with Vista Home Basic. The HD crashed and I never made a recovery cd as this is a browse only internet computer. I bought a SSD - more ram - and ordered a system reinstall disc with the software and drivers. Everything came up and I thought I was good to go. It's been about 3 weeks and now I get "The Windows Vista Home Basic product key you typed is invaled for activation." Is it because the original key was on the original HD and now it thinks I am attempting to use the activation key on another PC? It's the same PC different HD....I have 3 options on the screen
1-Use the automated phone system
2-Access your computer with reduced functionality
3-Type a different product key
I am not trying to do anything shady this is 100 percent legit.....My own pc with a new hd I bought and it won't accept my original product key I paid for when I bought the computer.
Please help me get this pc up and going again.
