Hey guys. I have recently bought a new gpu for my computer, but for some reason when I play games, it always freezes for a second or so and the audio stutters for that time also. This usually happens when I do something in-game, like open my inventory, start a conversation with a npc in-game, when a match ends in CS:GO, or also just during gameplay during CS:GO. I have really only played CS:GO and Skyrim recently so I don't really know what is happening here. I did read somewhere, but I don't know if it is related, but I have a stock motherboard which is probably only PCI-E 1.0 and my gpu, EVGA GTX 960, is PCI-E 3.0. I have reinstalled the video drivers but it did not do anything at all, so it's not that. Hopefully someone knows whats going on and could help me because this is really putting me in a bad position when I play games. Thank you for the help.

It maybe something as simple as your antivirus kicking in to can a file the game is opening .
You could test that by disabling it and trying with the game.

You can also open task manager and see is anything else is running and using system resources .
Look especially at the RAM to see which programs are using a lot of RAM and if you need them running while you game

Motherboard: (not sure, but it is a stock Dell Inspiron 660s motherboard)
CPU: Intel i3-3240 @3.4GHz
RAM: 8gb(2x4) Crucial DDR3-1600
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 960 2GB SSC GAMING ACX 2.0+
PSU: EVGA 430w
OS: Windows 10 Home x64

I have two separate monitors, one is using DV and the other is using HDMI. Yes, the HDMI monitor has speakers, but I use a Tritton headset instead of the speakers.

I just unplugged the hdmi cord and played CS:GO on the DVI monitor, and it was doing fine for a little while but then the graphics froze, and the audio stuttered again

Do you think my Tritton headset might be the problem? Its plugged into the motherboard via usb
