Below is a list of components I'm planning to use:

CPU: i5-6600K
Cooler: CRYORIG R1 Universal 76.0 CFM CPU Cooler
Motherboard: MSI Z170A GAMING M5 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws 4 series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-2400
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Storage: ?
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 970 4GB SSC ACX 2.0+ Video Card
Case: Fractal Design Define R5 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply
Optical Drive: LG WH14NS40 Blu-Ray/DVD/CD Writer
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Home

Although I’ve read about the different ways to connect an SSD (SATA, m.2, PCI) to a motherboard, I’m struggling with which way will be the best choice for my new system. I know that I’d like the capacity to be around 240/250 GB, and for brands I’m leaning towards either Samsung or Sandisk. I’d like the price to be less than $100.

Given the motherboard I’ve chosen, which model SDD would you recommend and why?

(For context, I plan to play games like Age of Wonders III, Endless Legend, and Pillars of Eternity. It is unlikely that I will play any first person, 3-D shooter-type games. In addition to gaming, this computer will serve as our family computer. I intend to use only one 1080p monitor.)

Thanks in advance to those who are willing to help.

It looks like Samsung is quite the popular brand. That's good to know.

What exactly is NAND, and is there an easy to determine if a particular SDD has that technology?

Thanks for letting me know. After I've finished the build, I'll use Samsung Magician to verify that I have the most current firmware.

You're welcome. Glad to help.

Good luck!
