I have a question does a Gigabyte pic express ethernet card produce better performance in terms of speed and bandwidth when downloading movies Music tv shows etc. And throughput getting from one website to another. Over an Onboard ethernet controller. The onboard and the card would both be pci express. It's just that the card would be plugged into a pcie 4x slot or an 8 x slot. Should I go out and Buy a gigabyte speed pci express ethernet card.

If you're talking about downloading from the Internet then there is absolutely no difference. And unless you have an unusually fast connection, a 100 Mb card would give equally good download speeds.

Okay Because I heard that I car uses it's own processing stariagt from the card but an ethernet controller actually steals if you will from the main cpu processor or something Like that. But maybe I'm thinking about the way things were years ago.

Sorry about the typos I heard that a card uses it's own processing straight from the card. Which is faster in performance than and onboard ethernet controller which has to use processing power from the Main cpu processor. Which would make the onboard slower. I'm assuming that's outdated information that I got. And if so why?
