I recently purchased a new PC and I was going to assemble it myself (my first time), and everything went smoothly. After booting up I installed my OS and motherboard drivers. As I went to install my GPU drivers I noticed it wasn't being detected, I opened the case back up and one of the PCI cables were unplugged, I plugged it back in and the computer shut off immediately. It'll only turn on if the GPU is unplugged from the PSU.

SPECS:
Z97-E Asus motherboard
GeForce GTX 970 4GB GDDD5 GPU
HX750W Corsair PSU
Intel core i7-4790k Quad-core Processer
2x 8GB z.ripjaws memory
Corsair 500R carbide series case

I don't have another PC to try the GPU in.

Thanks in advance.

Shut it down before, wouldn't turn on. At another point the PC may have been on without it plugged in and I tried to plug it in and it shut down. (Might have been a bad move, I was frustrated)
