Hey, me and a friend are trying to get my pc to work. my components are (after we put the new stuff in)
1. GTX 560 Galaxy GC edition
2. ASROCK fm2a78-hd=
4. gb Kingston 1333 value ram
5. vivo amd heatsink
6. HP xw4600 workstation psu
7. amd x4 840 (not phenom ii)
8. HP XW4600 case
We had standard hp parts before and a lga 775 processor before w/ 4 gb ddr2
Turns on for a sec, heatsink led's flash wont turn on.

Sounds like your PSU is the issue from a quick glance of your parts. Do you have the original HP PSU? If so, it is probably under-rated for anything but a stock configuration (usually no GPU in that form). I would upgrade the PSU to get the system up and running. If you have onboard GPU you could remove the GPU and see if the system will boot up.

Check that all your DIMMs, add-in boards, power connector and other stuff is all connected in the right places and fully seated.

The PC refusing to turn on usually means there is a short somewhere. The last time I answered one of these countless "PC won't start after upgrading" it turned out it was a DIMM not inserted correctly.

Wow, hadn't heard that one before, but that doesn't surprise me in the least :) I've also had a CPU and/or HSF/CPU not even fully installed right that I've run into. :)
