I have an FX 8320 and its getting temps of 50-55 idle on BIOS, I have a corsair H60 cooler and have had it for about 3 years now, I don't think the pump is dead as it feels like its working and one of the tubes is warm/hot. Re applied new thermal on it the other day still getting those temps. Motherboard is an Asus M5a97 R2.0, The Northbridge where the 970 chip set is, is getting really hot too hot to touch.

PSU is a Corsair VS650 ATX

Have you removed the fan you attached to the 120mm rad, and given it a good brush out of dust with a small soft bristle paint brush. Or buy a can of compressed air with a straw and give the rad a good clean out.

The more clogged the rad the less air flow can pass through it, and a thick coating of dust will also keep heat in the fins rads from being properly cooled.

If you have not cleaned it for a few years, it may be clogged up a bit.

Yeah the rad and fan have been cleaned with compressed air, No idea why its 55 idle. Could it be an airlock although nothing has leaked from the cooler ?

Got a corsair H60 here.

Current pump Rpm is 4500rpm.

If yours is lower it may be the pump starting to fade.
Have a mess around with the tension you have on the two thumb screws on the cpu cooling block.
You may have to even the pressure out, as you have too much tension on one side or something causing a slight lift.
Don`t forget things warp with heat over time, depending on the material they are made of.

How much thermal paste did you use on the cpu heat spreading plate of the cpu ?
May be too much on there, will have a negative effect on heat transfer to the WC cooling plate of the H60.

How am I able to check the pump Rpm, I'll try to give it another refit and make sure there isnt too much tension on one side.

Go into your BIOS and up the speed of the radiator fan. It helped me more than you'd think.

I'll try to put it on turbo and see how it goes , Can I use a program like SpeedFan or doing it in BIOS the best way

If you do it in the bios it'll stay at the speed you set it at after restarts. It's probably at 50%, take it up to 75% and watch it drop by a few degrees.

Like I said, the voltage maybe. It may be as simple as the silicon lottery. Not all CPU's are made equal. You can buy one i5 and overclock it to 5 GHz and another one of the same that wont OC whatsoever. Same goes for temps.

So the CPU could be dying ? The cpu currently is not OC and has been running ok for like 3 years now.

Anythings possible, but heres the catch: The CPU isnt fitted with a thermometer to read real temps, instead it uses algorithms to tell you how hot it is according to how hard its working. It may be just false readings. Download and try the program Speed Fan and see if that tells you anything different.
