It sounds like a fair deal and it will do the job no problem.

Actually the Corsair CX 430 is a fantastically build PSU, its one of the best PSU's within that W range, strange how all of the CX range sucks really badly about from the 430W but it does. I would recommended it.

I know this isn't statistically helpful, but I bought the CX430 and it died right away. Then, I took some time doing research and ended up with the Antec VP-450 which reviews said was much more reliable.

So if I could only choose those two parts in the post it would be the VP-500.

For POWER the quick rule-of-thumb is what your graphics card demands (if needs 2x6-pin PCIe make sure your power supply provides that, and don't use adapters such as MOLEX->6-pin).

Some Intel CPU's however don't need much power such as an i3-4170 compared to say an FX-6300 so in those cases you can easily get away with a MOLEX->6-pin if your max power is well within the limit. Say 100W for system total + 200W GPU = 300W.

So a good 450/500W power supply can power some fairly nice rigs, but if you want better advice tell us:

1) CPU
2) GPU
3) do you overclock CPU/GPU
4) Budget

Don't skimp on the power supply. It can end up costing a lot more, and sometimes can cause transient faults that are very difficult to troubleshoot.

Then you got a faulty power supply or you didn't realise that you were pushing it over its limits as its a low end power supply you should always get a psu that can handle your computer even when running at 80% efficiency, while you maybe right with the Antec VP-450 being a little bit better than the CX430W the difference is very marginal, maybe in your system the extra 20W made all the difference as although these are both good power supplies they are both still low/mid end power supplies :)

What is the price for the other ones you mentioned, the CX430 and Deepcool DA500?

Antec VP500PC is based on the old CWT GPA platform, which is worse than CWT DSAIII (from the Corsair) or CWT GPK (from the Deepcool). You should post the prices first, though.

So the Antec VP500PC for 2900 is a nice deal, but if you want to have ~50W more power at +12V (456W vs 408W), slightly better electrical performance, longer warranty (3 years vs 2) and two 6+2pin PCIe cables instead of one 6pin and one 6+2pin, then you can pay for Deepcool DA500 too.
