I currently have an AMD A10-6800k apu, a Radeon R7 200 series, and a GIGABYTE F2A88X-D3M motherboard. I am not so good at upgrading my pc, so in order to get better performance on videogames and software like Unreal Engine 4, what should i try upgrading first?

I suppose the maximum i could spend is around 200€. Because upgrading is not extremely important, i could spend these 200€ again later on. Also, the performance i want is to be able to play recent games, like Fallout 4, that i currently run hardly on 30fps on minimum settings. Also, when using Unreal i get most of the time 20, so i'd like to improve to 60fps. Mention that if graphics are not extremely good it's ok.

Okay the best option you have with that minimum price range is getting the AMD A10-7870K APU for 128.99€ on Newegg.com. The 7870k is the strongest APU out right now, and that your motherboard can handle.

There is also a few other things I would like to know. What speed is your RAM running at? The faster the RAM, the better APU will perform. Can you also get the specifics as of which R7-2xx card you have? You can download CPU-Z to give us all the information we need.

Hello Narcyz. Your graphic card must be ok but not the best, of course. It may be able to run the more recent and heavy games but on low settings with good performance. Concerning your CPU, you have a FM1/FM2 socket build and I can't simply find any CPU in that range that will greatly improve your performance or be worth the money spent on. I'd recommend you to go with a AM3 socket CPU but that would also mean you had to change your motherboard and see if other components are compatible with it.
That's about as helpful as I can be, sorry if this doesn't go according to what you want to hear. The best of luck.

Fallout 4 is CPU and GPU hungry so you would need a good balance between both. An APU system will kinda be at the lower end for games like this. It is also an NVidia Gameworks title so it will favor NVidia.

For ~208 Euros now you could do:

119 - FX 6350 with stick cooler (Unlike the FX 6300, the 6350 stock cooler is decent and wont need a cooler upgrade right away)
88 - Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P motherboard

Then next upgrade for ~200 Euros could be an NVidia GTX 950, or 960 if you can swing a little extra.

* HOWEVER *

If you really want to stay with the FM2 platform, as others have mentioned the 7870K is the high tier APU. You need FAST RAM to get the most out of it. DDR 2133 is the sweet spot. Then look at adding at matching GPU for APU + GPU CrossfireX.

Allright, i don't really know what exactly you wanted to see from CPU-Z, so i took some screenshots as well as the R7 200 specs.

Hmm, this seems like a good choice for upgrading. I'll take a closer look to all the parts you mentioned and see which option will suit me better. Many thanks.

Okay it gives me all the information I need. So your RAM is currently running at 1600MHz, the best thing to do is overclock it in the BIOs to 2133MHz. Your GPU is one of the 2GB variants so I assume it sin the middle of the low to mid tier which should be able to do Dual-Graphics mode with the A10-7870k.

That will be the best solution for the short term, depending on how happy you are with the performance, you should see a significant increase from what you are doing now, and without spending your budget.

For the longterm like maddogfargo has stated, is spend the budget on a new motherboard and cpu, on the AM3+ socket, then get a better graphics card later.

Okay. With this in mind, i have a question. If i were to overclock to 2133MHz, would it be safe? Is there a lot of risk doing this?
Also, i think im going with a long term upgrade, because although the 7870 might result in a significant improvement, i think upgrading to AM3 would be better for me.

Sorry for the late reply. It is completely safe OC'ing the RAM. Worst case scenario it doesn't boot under the OC settings then it will reboot with settings from the last successful boot. If you definitely feel like making the jump to AM3+ it will definitely be worth it, it is a great CPU line. Albeit it could be better, but it is definitely worth using. If you want to wait a bit longer, AMD has new CPU's and APU's coming out later next year.

Nice to know that there are going to be new Cpu's from AMD. For now, i'll try to OC my Ram, and i'll start searching to buy parts and upgrade to AM3. I'm going to mark this as the solution. Really appreciate the help you've given me. Cheers.
