Motherboard is:
ASRock 970M PRO3 Micro ATX AM3+/AM3

CPU is:
AMD FX-8350 4.0GHz 8-Core

I'm being told this BIOS is going to need an update before it will support the new AMD FX processors.
I really don't want to buy a cheap processor to do the BIOS update.
Is there any possible way to do the BIOS update without a CPU installed on the mobo? Or will it at least hold the CPU enough to flash the new BIOS? And if that is possible, is there any chance that that method could damage the CPU or system in any way? Thanks.

Setup is:
Mobo: ASRock 970M PRO3 mATX AM3+/AM3
CPU: AMD FX Black Edition 8350 (8 core, 4.0Ghz)
Cooler: Corsair H100i GTX
RAM: G Skill Sniper (16Gb: 4x4Gb) DDR3-2400
GPU: MSI Radeon R7 370 4Gb
PSU: EVGA SuperNova GS 550w 80+ Gold
+ Case, OS, HDD, SSD, WLAN card, etc.

generally you would need to take it to a shop, let them use their CPU, flash the BIOS, and give the mobo back...there really is not going to be any way without buying the cheapest cpu for your socket...

there is a good chance popping in the cpu will work on that mobo tho and they are just covering their bases
