Hey, first time here posting.

So my PC randomly freezes. No consistancy at all. When it happens temps are always low and different, I'm doing different stuff each time, sometimes different games, movies, web, nothing at all. Sometimes is takes a few minutes to freeze sometimes over a hr. I built it a year ago and haven't had a problem. installed beta video drivers for my and r9 290 because of just cause 3 had a boot problem so I reset windows with a USB drive and I have been having this problem ever since.

Run memtest for 9hrs no errors and it it didn't restart, I'm trying windows memtest now. All the parts are under a year old.

Windows 10
AMD 9590
32g corsair dominator platinum
Crosshair V formula z
AMD r9 290 Asus ROG
Corsair RM 1000

Update. Thanks for the help so far. yes it still froze with latest driver and with beta driver. mem test didn't bring bk any errors.I left it on when I went out for a hr no one touched it and it forze by the time I got home, done the same thing again after restart and it was OK when I got home and ran long enough to do the tests below.

I stress tested the CPU at 100% for 15 min using AMD overdrive didn't freeze. I downloaded, installed and run 3d mark with fire strike extreme and it didn't freeze until the loading screen at 75% after runing the whole demo with no problem . All temps ok . is it safe to rule out hardware as a cause?

I need to be as sure as I can be before formating due to the size of my HDD and the amount of time it takes to get it bk into a usable state after doing so. I work 6 days a week ATM and I need it everyday after work.

Update 3 After it froze following the pervious tests I restarted and run fire strike extreme and run through fine start to finish then AMD Overdrive bench mark and stability tests for over 45 min with no freeze. All I did change bios to optimized default. Makes no sense since all I changed is the first place was RAM from auto to 2133 because I was told to when I bought the ram, something to do with AMD MB's and RAM and its ran fine like that for year. Stranger thing is I got a better 3d mark score. Any one wanna break this down for me because I am beyond confused?

Update 4. It ran fine for over 24 hrs then froze again random while playing movies and a game on pause. Anyone have any ideas?

beta drivers are a total crapshoot. Some work just fine, some can cause crashes.

Sometimes it can be 'leftovers' of a previous driver. Always make sure you fully remove old drivers before installing new.

If you uninstall the beta driver, does the problem persist? If going back to an old driver removes the problem, you need to decide if you can put up with the crashes until the next update, or if you want to go back to an old driver until the full-release.

You can also turn off automatic hardware updates, to take full control over what updates to install.

Worst-case, it can be the OS. A clean install may be required. Not a 'reset'...

A clean install formats your HDD or SSD so there is no trace of a prior OS install.
