I just recently bought an XB1 and wanted to watch a movie the other night. So, not knowing that new xbox's don't play media off of external HDDs like the 360s did, I plugged in my hard drive and the Xbox reformatted the HDD. To my disappointment, I can't watch my movie collection through my new xbox. Anyway, when I plugged my HDD back into my computer, I found out that my computer does not even recognize the drive anymore. I understand that I have to reformat the drive for PC but I don't quite know how and I would really like to do it without losing all of my movies if they are even still there... Your help is greatly appreciated!

You might be able to do this using a program called Testdisk. It can scan the drive for the lost partition, and then add it back to the partition table. It all just depends on how much data it overwrote in the format process. If that doesn't work, then you'll have to use data recovery software such as R-Studio to extract the files to another drive, format it, and then copy them back.
