Is it safe to uncheck maximum memory box in msinfo?

Hello so ive been having a problem with my computer and I think ive found the answer, at the moment I am wondering if it is safe for me to uncheck the maximum memory check-box in msinfo. Any suggestions?

are you referring to the maximum memory box in 'BOOT Advanced options' in MSCONFIG? if so, yes unchecking this should be preferred in a stable build. this option puts a software limitation for the OS on the amount of memory it can use. It should be used for diagnostic purposes only.

Yes i am referring to that since i need more ram to run my games now it was fine at first

That is strange that the box is checked. it should stay unchecked. How much ram do you have compared to what it is limiting you to?

Side note, when you do uncheck the box and apply the settings, you will have to restart your machine.

Yeah i have 8gb in the computer 2.98gb usable this computer was custom made by one of my Dad's friend it originally started with 4gb but then it had an upgrade. So im presuming its checked because of that
