Can someone please give opinions on what graphics card i should upgrade to im looking to spend no more than £300? I play in 1080p on a Asus VG248QE monitor and My Pc specs are:
Intel i5 4670k, Cryorig H5 CPU cooler
MSI Z87-G45 Motherboard
Corsair Vengenance 16GB ram
Nvidia GTX 460(letting my rig down)
EVGA Supernova G2 750w Gold
Zalman z11 case with 2x130mm, 2x90mm intake and 3x130 exhaust fans.
I have been toying between MSI GTX 970 and R9 390 MSI or should i wait?
Any advice would be great.
Thanks in advance

Solution

Absolutely. You'd be sorely misinformed if someone convinced you that a 390 was better on any Bethesda or CoD game.

the 390 is the better card, higher performance, more vram, higher gains with dx 12 (async)
the only downside is the higher power consumption.

that is bs, amd's drivers are just as good, they may not have them day one, but that is because of gameworks integration...

For 1080P, the 970 can't go wrong. It's plenty powerful and barely warms up on load. I moved to the EVGA 970 SC+ from a 7870 LE and the difference was remarkable. Also on 1080P. Nothing I've thrown at it yet has had a single issue.

I was considering the 390 as well, but from what I've seen, they trade blows on many games. BUT... the 970 consumes less power and creates less heat. With my ITX case, these are concerns. No regerts.

Of the last 5 gaming systems I've build 2 had 390s one had a 980, a 970 and 960.... After playing around with them all with a lil 5 game suite I use to test the 390s were just very hit or miss. The 970 was rock solid in all 5 titles, the 390s won in 3 in fps, tied in one (but it felt choppier) and were terrible in crysis 3 which they should have had plenty of time to work on drivers for

So will either max out fallout, black ops 3 or just cause 3? And are the drivers on the 970 that much better than the r9 390 what? Also will i ever use the 4gb(3.5) if i was to get the 970 i am torn completley i really dont know what to get!

Still pushing the feature that is unproven as to whether it will be widely used huh? And higher peak framerates mean nothing if the game play experience is choppy, other than giving the fans something to try and shout about of course. "Higher performance, look a whole 3fps MOOAAR!".

BO3, Fallout 4 and Just Cause 3 are games that use proprietary nvidia software so the 970 beats the 390 in those games.
corrected it for you

And AoS is an AMD sponsored title and the only one that uses Async hence why it is better on AMD cards but you fail to correct yourself on that, why?
