Hey everyone;

Last week I was running two 80gb SSDs in RAID-0 and my read speed was ~500mb/s.

Since I upgraded to a single Samsung Evo 500gb my speed is only ~300mb/s; even though it's advertised as ~520mb/s

I have the drive running in AHCI and my motherboard is an GA-X58A-UD3R.

I have included my second HDD I have installed, as well as, my External HDD connected to my USB 3.0.

Are these numbers normal or have I confudgled some drivers?

Thanks!

Nope the Gsata ports are courtesy of another controller, like the marvel.
Yes you can get 500GB/s in raid mode but that using both sata ports. The SSD only uses one and the marvel controller won't give the ssd the whole bandwidth..

Your Intel ports are SATA2_0 thru Sata2_5 and I would think you would see about 225MB/s

Sorry but those two ports are courtesy of a Marvel9128 chip and you will never see 500+MB/s with that either. It only has an x1 pcie lane for bandwidth...
Just install the evo to one of the intel ports and be happy with the speed you have. Enable rapid mode and re-run your benchmarks :)

With my older two SSDs (80gbs RAID-0) I saw 500mb/s Using the same ports.

I just switched to the Intel ports and I'm, down to 120mb/s

What's going on here??

EDIT: By intel ports, you mean GSATA2_8, GSATA2_9?
