How does one connect a 200 ft. Ethernet cable to a router that has only USB connectors? I need to run an Ethernet cable to a

Easiest: Replace that USB-only router with another with Ethernet connectivity.

If you INSIST on using that USB router, plug in a PC on that USB, then enable Internet Sharing, then out its RJ45 to remote devices. This PC becomes your gateway and needless to say, must be on 24x7 whenever you want Internet service.

That router serves several units which connect via USB. It's not practical nor desirable to have to dedicate another pc. My problem would be solved if there were mixed ports on the router. I haven't seen any router/wi-fi units with mixed ports. I thought about putting a 5 port switch between modem and wifi and use a port there, but I don't know whether that would cause problems. Unfortunately, I'm not computer savvy enough to know.

usb ports are not the same thing as ethernet (obvious but still stated). Your "router" is probably in fact a "usb switch/hub" and is not intended for internet routing. Unless your saying that the only port "left" on your router is a usb port. In which i reply that this is for servicing and connectivity to a single computer usually to be used as a wireless access point. either way what you'r attempting... to my knowledge... is impossible.

Something is unclear with this because there is no such thing as a USB router. Hairlygene, if you are still around, tell us more about your equipment. What is the make and model of the router? All you need to run the cable is an open port on a switch.

Since I posted my original inquiry, I learned to be more specific about what I was asking and also to look more closely at my equipment. I just assumed I had USB ports on my router (which I have had for a number of years) but it actually has ethernet ports and not usb ports. Problem solved. But thanks to all who answered and tried to help me. Ain't ignorance bliss on my part!!!
