Hi guys,

I found a great offer I couldn't turn down, so I purchased another GTX 780. I made sure that it matches the core clock, all though it is of a different brand. I opened open my machine and put in the new card, now for my problem. The new card seem to want 16 pins, and not 14 like the other card. I've attached a image of my power-supply where you can see what I have left to plug into. What cables PCI-E do I need? Is it even possible? I am rather new at inserting new hardware - however, I did make sure that my motherboard and power supply were up to the task.

Anyway, to summerize. How do I get my new 16-pin GFX hooked up with the current access to the power supply? Thank you!

nicest,
Mads

*note. obviously I need to dust of the machine :)

Raidmax PSU's are terrible. That doesn't change the fact that it's what our OP has and he asked how to get 16 pins. I answered the question and you supplied a healthy alternative.

Wow, that was spot on. I just double-checked and it is definitely that terrible PSU I have.

Now, I am a total newbie, and I would need to purchase the PCI-E's. What am I looking for, for them to be compatible with Raidmax?

You are saying the PSU have the supplied 4x (6+2 Pin connectors needed). Does that mean I just can buy 2x 6+2 Pin connectors and insert them into the available PCI-E slot and the peripheral sata? If I am not able to use the peripheral sata for PCI-E connectors, how do I get the one PCI-E slot into 2x 6+2 pin connectors?

I hope my questions make sense. Thank you!

Hi Blackbird,

I tried contacting Raidmax, but it seems that their email and website is completely useless. So I am actually considering picking up a better PSU. I have no idea why the place where I bought the computer from in the first place supplied me with such a lousy PSU.

Is it possible for me to aquire the cables elsewhere, and is it possible for me to run 2x 780 GTX in SLI with that Power Supply? Looks like I don't have enough PCI-E sockets?

If I were to pick up another Powersupply such as "Seasonic X-850" would I be able to easily remove that from the case - or is that a massive task?

nicest,
Mads

.. but would it be possible to get PCI-E cables for my current PSU, and would it be possible to get enough power for the second GTX 780? Buying a new PSU would be my last option :) Thank you!

I suppose that solves it then! To hell with Raidmax. Absurd that I am not able to get a hold of them, and that their email is not even active.

I've been looking at your tier-list on the site, and found these three possible modules. How do they look? Which one would you recommend picking up? I assume all of them will fit into my case? I really appreciate all the help!

My current Raidmax's dimentions are:

3.50" x 6.00" x 6.50"
which translates into
8.89 x 15.24 x 16.51 cm

The EVGA G2 850 seems to be:

8.5 x 15 x 18 cm

Now, I am a complete rookie, but would it be able to fit into my case? Are there some standard measurements that ensures that most PSU goes into the average case? Obviously I would be kicking myself if I got it all ordered and then couldn't fit the bastards into the case itself :) Thank you for keeping with me Blackbird.
