Hey all,
It's been a while since I posted here so sorry if it's in the wrong category...
Anyways, lets get down to business :)
I've been looking into either upgrading my system or completely buying a new rig but before we do that, I'll give you some background -

Current system specs:
CPU: i7 3770 @ 3.4 GHz (not overclocked)
CPU cooler: Dynatron K17 92mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler
GPU: XFX|R9-270X (not overclocked)
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB @ 1600 MHz
MoBo: Asus P8Z77-V Deluxe Edition
PSU: XFX Pro 850W XXX Edition
SSD: Samsung 250GB SSD 840 Series
HDD: Hitachi 1TB @ 7200 RPM
Case: Cooler Master HAF X

My system, which I've had for roughly 4 years, has had some overheating issues lately. When I first got the HAF-X (yes, this system did not start in a HAF-X), I had some minor ignore-able heat issues, but now it'll shut down under stress. Hell, even on idle the gpu runs around 40 celsius and the cpu is running as hot as 50 degrees celsius... I've tried reapplying thermal paste but that didn't help at all because a couple of days afterwards I noticed it wasn't only the cpu that was overheating, it was also the gpu. Plus, the thermal paste didn't help CPU temps. I'd like to think that a case known for it's good airflow is not the issue but I guess it is in this case (pun not intended haha)...

So, given that and the systems age, I've decided to either upgrade or get a new system altogether. My budget is $2000 and while I have that budget, I don't necessarily need to use it all (obviously) but I did come up with a new system that looks interesting (meaning very silly) which can be found here (I'll also throw in my current 1TB HDD) but everyone who looks at that list will probably think I don't need that motherboard, and in reality I don't (but I do need the onboard WIFI unless you want to add an extra USB wireless dongle or whatever they call them these days). However, that list gives me the potential to upgrade in the future (an extra 6 RAM slots left open and can throw in another 980 TI for 2-way SLI). So, you can tweak that list to your desires, I'd like to see what everyone comes up with. That, or you could suggest some upgrades. By the end of the day, I'd like to be running at least one (if not two-way SLI) 980 TI and a minimum of 8GB @ 3000 MHz (if you choose to scrap my current RAM modules). Obviously keep in mind that if you do suggest an upgrade, my system currently overheats a lot so try to offer a fix to that.

I think I mentioned everything... If you made it this far, you deserve an award of some sort haha

Any input is welcome - Thanks so much :)

P.S. - Yes, I made sure that every fan is working and that the system is dust free
