I've read some posts before I posted this topic, but I just ended up more confused. What is the better upgrade path? A GTX 980 that is heavily discounted, or a second GTX 770 for SLI? I play games like CS-GO, Dirt Rally, World of Warships, and need for speed. What is the path I should go for???

Solution
If you had a 4gb 770 the choice would be harder, but with a 2gb 770 get the 980. Even @ 1080p games are using more vram and SLI only mirrors the vram and doesn't stack it.

I would go for the GTX 980 because you can always sli later down the road, it runs pretty much all new games in ultra, and not all games run in sli but even if that's not the issue then you still might be avoiding other problems by sticking with the one gpu.

Lol why would you need a second gpu/ a new 980 if you're only playing those games? I agree with @mankar
