Was considering testing out a new theory:
Buy two old Xeon 5000 series CPUs off eBay for super cheap (>£15) and then use a dual socket motherboard also off eBay to have 8 physical cores and 3.16Ghz base clock.
All of these parts are old server parts which is why they are cheap and memory can also be found on eBay plus I already have some DDR2 at home from old PCs.

I have some questions. Would love any answers:
Do you think this is a good idea?
Any advice or improvements?
Anyone with experience with this idea?
Could this possibly run a powerful rust server?
Would I need a good GPU also to use this as a server for rust for example?
What sort of PSU would I need and also what power rating?

Thanks,
Benj

Could get tricky. Those old Xeons use a hell of power and produce a lot of heat. You don't need much CPU power to run a Rust server. And to run any server, you don't need a GPU. Most server boards don't even support one.
I think it's not a very good idea, in the end you'll just end up with all sorts of problems.
