If you only have $300 to build a pc your going to struggle to play most games with a system based in that price range.
Even if you could, you would be looking at playing something like Fallout 4 with very low screen resolution and with just about all of the in game graphical effects of the game set to low.

For about $300 your best bet is a PS4, in fact the game graphics would be better than what a $300 pc based system could produce, and would play a lot smoother of course.

ehh its possible. I upgraded a hp xw4600 ($150) and threw in a q6600 (ebay $20), tape mod overclock (3.0ghz), 8gb ddr2 (ebay $40), and gtx 750 (ebay $90) and i can play fallout 4 at 1080p med-high settings 30fps which is equivalent to the ps4.

But unless you really really want a gaming pc over a ps4 (like i did) then the ps4 or xbox one would be wayyyyy better price to performance.
