Hey everyone. From what I read on forums i could find on google, I see that the Cosair AF120 quiet edition fans are not the best fans to use for replacements on the H100i do to the lack of static pressure.

What I am wondering is if i could use the AF120's as intake fans into the radiator, and use the ones it came with for exhale power.

My goal is to get the purple AF120's i got as a gift to light up the inside or outside top of my H440 case.

So currently the only airflow out is through the back of the case you're saying? Yeah I would change that and blow the air through the radiator to push it out the top of the case. If I understand you correctly, your pulling in cool air from the top, blowing it across the warm radiator, and then blowing that air back down into the case and having the front intake flow all air out the back exhaust. I would change the direction if your cooler to exhaust out the top but keeping the same configuration is fine. As for your goal, I don't know how well they would light up the case sadly. You can use them for the current push pull set up you have on your radiator but I don't think they'll do much for lighting up the case much.

Is that the cooler you already have for your build? If not I would suggest NZXTs Kraken x61 so you can adjust the LEDs on the cooler for some extra effect. That said the stock NZXT fans are pretty nice and I still use them on my cooler (the Kraken).

Back on point, you'd want SP fans on your radiator and use the AF fans as intake. LED fans are nice but they don't always have the best/brightest lights to light things up past the fan itself. If you want purple in the top vent area of the case, I would look at a small thin strip of LEDs. You can look at my build in my sig to see the LEDs in my fans. They light up and look cool in a darker room, but they don't cast light through the vents like I thought they might.

yes i already have the h100. basically the way i have it set up now is

the two stock sp fans are on top of the radiator, inside the case, and the two purple af120s under it.

the stock fans on top are in taking air from outside the case, the af120s are sucking the air out of the radiator into the case, then i have all my case fans taking air out the back of the case.

the h440 case has 3 fans up front intaking air.
so that pushes air to the motherboatd and my two 970s, back fans are taking the air out the back.

it lights up rather well actually with the addition of the other LEDs i have going. The red led on the h100i, green from the video cards, my soundcard lights up red, and my extakes are blue. lol.

but i will turn the fans around and see how it goes. right now idle temps are 20c to 40c. i think it jumps to 40 sometimes due to background processes. thank you for your input! :)

Not a problem. I know sucking in the cool air is nice for the CPU but you're blowing more warm air in the case and at the back of the GPU. If your rad set up with fans hangs rather low, the airflow from the front of the case is pushed downward from the rad fans before the exhaust sucks up upwards and out, so it's not the most optimal set up for case flow.
