as of now i have

intel i7 4770k not ocd
corsair xms3 1333 ddr3 4gb
msi z97m gaming
id cooling vc twin cpu cooler
razer firefly mousepad
corsair strafe rgb
corsair obsidian 350d
thermatake riings rgb
corsair m65 rgb

i want to buy a dual kit of rams, maybe 4gbx2..

my question is can i buy rams not supported (or not listed) in msi website?

and the compatibility says that my mobo only supports ddr3 1333 and 1600 (1866 so on is supported, but overclocked)

so what if i buy a ram thats 1866 or 2133 or 2400, will it work if i dont overclock it? am on a tight budget, im opting for avexir blitz, or anything that illuminates, i still dont have a gpu cause thats the last that i will be buying since there's so many gtx 970 to choose from..

thanks

8GB is enough for gaming and GTX 960 with play GTA V. Here are some benchmarks for the game: http://www.forbes.com/sites/jasonevangelho/2015/04/15/grand-theft-auto-v-pc-version-benchmarked-across-14-nvidia-and-amd-graphics-cards/

According to their website your motherboard supports up to DDR3 3300MHz (OC) http://www.msi.com/product/motherboard/Z97M-GAMING.html#hero-overview

In answer to your question, if you buy RAM that has a higher speed than your motherboard supports, then it will still work but only at the speed supported by your motherboard. To add to that the difference in RAM speed does not have a great impact on your games performance and you normally only get very small increase in FPS by increasing the RAM speed a few steps.

If you are on a tight budget you could buy 8GB of Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9-Vengeance-Performance-Desktop/dp/B004CRSM4I/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1449539390&sr=1-1&keywords=corsair+

Hope this helps

ok, last, is it okay to buy a set of 2x4 gb. then just add another 2x4 gb in the future? and if i happen to buy the 1866, will it run on 1866? or will it just downclock to 1333 or 1600?
