dlink dir-655 - broken reset - can I 'short' (?) it somehow?

Long story short - the 'reset' button on my dir-655 is broken. i opened the case and the little black 'reset button' fell out along with a small round copper (?) disk, which has subsequently sprouted legs and ran off!. I need to hard reset my router (which only shows a yellow power light - indicating it needs a reset). i was trying to do a firmware update (first mistake) when it froze. I just want to reset to factory default.

Is there any way I can use a wire to connect 2 (+?) points on the circuit board to 'reset' the router? i tried using a paper clip via the 'reset' hole, but I think 'cuz the little copper disk is missing - I'm not hitting the right points.

The folks at the d-link forum have no ideas.

Thanks

Kelly

I opened the case, removed the board and found the reset switch solder points on the back of the board. I shorted then but no reset. Either the board is bricked or the reset button is broken and constantly shorting the 2 leads, Tomorrow (maybe) I will meter check the solder points for open/short ... if shorted I will unsolder the button and manually short the leads and see if it resets.

Sounds like you bricked it. Like Phillip said time for a new one.
