4K blu-ray with any drive?

Hi

If I buy something like the Plextor PX-B120U external blu-ray drive, will that be able to read 4K blu-ray discs?
Is there any particular spec that a drive need to have in order for it to read the next generation discs?

Also, is there any difference in how well blu-ray drives are at reading damaged discs?

The drive has to specifically say it supports ultra hd, and the one you specified does not.

It's unlikely you will see much difference between drives at reading damaged discs. Once a disk is damaged, there is very little you can do. You might be able to rip the movie with software that skips errors
