Hey, i currently got 1 stick of 8gb hyperx fury red ram in my computer. And i wanted to buy another one of these. But they aren't on the market here in Norway anymore. My plan was to have 2 sticks with 8, giving 16 gigs of ram together, haha. But even though this is going to be a weird question, i am just going to ask it anyways. Will it be a better performance when rendering videos and such if i upgrade to 24 gigs? I were planning on buying another 2 sticks of 8, cause 8+8+8 equals 24. Is this a good idea?

Solution
WITH 24gb AND DEPENDING ON THE SIZE OF THE PROJECTS YOU ARE RENDERING, yES PERFORMANCE CAN BE BETTER. tHE BIG THING WILL BE IF A 2X8 SET ADDED TO YOUR CURRENT WILL EVEN PLAY TOGETHER. Ooops, sorry about the caps, but anyway, if they will play, then contrary to the above, the DRAM will run in Flex mode, so you'll have 16GB in dual channel mode and the odd 8 GB running in single channel mode. Flex mode has been around for a few years now. Worst case scenario, with a 2x8GB set purchased - you'll have 16GB in full dual channel (if the set won't play with the old)

Using three cards you have to run in single channel ram mode, whilst 2 or 4 can run dual channel mode (switch in bios) better running 2 in dual ,than three in single just to get 8gb more that you possibly won't even use

I am not sure if the Netherland portion of Newegg can help, but I found this. Hyperx 8GB Fury Red for €37,99 http://www.newegg.com/global/nl/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104450

And like I said, if you are not physically needing more RAM, the extra will be wasted. The only improvement will be making it faster.
