Hi,

I just replaced my GTX 580 with a 980. I swapped the cards over and for a while I didn't think it was working at all.

Essentially, what happens when I turn it on is this. I get the P.O.S.T logo appear on my screen followed by a beep (as it should) but then nothing happens. At this point I can't press DEL or F9 etc. to access any of the BIOS/boot menus.

When it is left it will stay on the POST screen. Beep once, then about a twenty second break, beep twice followed by a break and so on until the fourth beep. The computer will then boot like normal.

I put my 580 back in and my computer boots first time.

This has only become a problem because I wanted to update the BIOS and maybe change some settings to see if that would stop the quad boot. Unfortunately I can't get into the BIOS at all (i am being lazy and cba to swap the cards over if it can be helped). I pulled the battery out to no avail.

Can anyone give me a good reason as to why this is happening. If someone tells me that there is a definite reason and I need to access the BIOS to change this then I will...

Specs here.

I am using a USB keyboard.. I have a converter somewhere if you think that might help. Although, it is clear that my buttons are being registered because once i have spammed DEL long enough the speaker starts to make a noise on each button press.

its a 700 Watt .. coolermaster? I bought this rig of my friend.. personally I wouldn't have gone for this PSU. I do know that the 980 isn't as power hungry as the 580 though. The 580 required two 8 pins and a 6 pin...

I think this is the PSU
