Hello there, I was wondering if a asus radeon r9 390X graphics card was compatible with a msi 970 gaming motherboard.

You should be more concerned if you CPU will bottlneck it. I would check if it has atleast one PCIe 8x or 16x or PCIe 3.0 8x or 16x. But all graphics cards are supported with every board with PCIe 2.0+ Also check if it is to big for you case, and if your powersupply can support it and has the power pins for it aswell. Most Intel CPUs won't bottleneck a 390x, but AMD FX 6300 Will.
