I'll be purchasing 64GB (8x8GB) of Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 2133 or 2666MHz RAM soon.

The latency on the 2133MHz is CAS 13-15-15-28
and on the 2666MHz is CAS 16-18-18-35

There's only about £16 p/32GB difference in price.

Just curious to why I'd favour the 2666MHz over the 2133. Is there much different in performance? Since both the frequency and latency is higher, surely performance is somewhat similar and pretty much negligible?

It'll be used on an Asus X99a for heavy software usage (3D Rendering, Video Compositing, Photo-Manipulation, Code compiling etc...) It'll paired with the i7 5820K. Since the board only takes DDR4, and it starts at 2133 anyway, is it worth jumping up to 2400/2666?

Thanks.

You won't notice any difference when you use it, only benchmarks show what faster speeds can do. IMO, I would only get fast speeds for an APU.

Fair enough, might as well go for 2133MHz since its the cheapest then.

Thanks
