Hello
I have got a 6mb per second download speed and its really poor.im with talk talk and have their rubbish dlink 150 router.Will upgrading my router to one that has 350 mb per second increase my download speed.I have tried my cat 5e ethernet cable and it has done no difference.It took me 3 hours to download warface on steam which is 6gb and i have got unlimited usage as well.What should i do apart from switching isp.Plus i have only got my desktop on using wifi and my ipad which sits idle and even when my ipad wifi is off their is no increase download speed.On steam i only get max 830 kbs and normally it is 600 kbs.I have also tried multiple dns servers as well.

Changing provider will generally not help as it is all BT Openreaches network regardless of provider (except virgin) the access line speed is determined by the distance you are from exchange, quality of the twisted copper cable, and the exchange equipment ie Adsl2+ or lower.
I would see if fibre is available (fttc) you can find this at http://www.superfast-openreach.co.uk/where-and-when/

Or I would use Samknows to find out if 6mb is your estimated line speed. If so the option is to upgrade to fibre.

If it's considerably higher ie 17mb I would call your supplier and ask if there are any faults on the line.
They will give some great advice usually if you treat them as humans, they do know what they are talking about.

* also you...

* also you will get a new... Not too bad vdsl modem. *

Edit 2 changing router will not help speed through wired connection unless it is faulty and your access line speed is considerably higher than the 6mb through put you have
