Hi guys, can any one inform me if it would be much benefit of adding a second Graphics card to my rig. I currently have a Shapphire R9 290 with a reference cooler.

Was thinking of adding second card any ideas what I should go for and would there be much improvements? Dont want to be spending too much or is it worth it?

Thanks!!

Well if your at like 1080p 60hz I would think one 290 would be plenty to hit 60fps on most games on ultra so no it wouldn't make much of a difference. If you have a 1080p or higher, 120hz or higher monitor then yes it would be quite useful. What 800watt power supply do you have make and model? If that is some cheap off brand psu I would not hook up two 290s to it.

If you are adding a card, you definitely want another 290. I would recommend that you consider another one with the reference cooler -- even though those coolers are less effective, they do exhaust the air out of your case.
In the best gaming situations, you could nearly double your performance. The higher resolution you use, the more you will benefit from the second card.

You dont need another 290 at 1080p 60hz you would never notice the difference in the majority of games. Certainly not worth the money. I would take the money your going to spend on the 290 and buy a decent monitor, when I switched from a tv to a monitor it was like night and day, response times on most tv's especially an older plasma tv are abysmal.

I dont really know what to make of that samsung thing it has a 15ms response time which isn't very good but not very bad either, contrast ratio of 1000:1 I don't think that's very good, a PLS panel which I know nothing about, and I have never really heard of a tv/monitor either. Give it a shot it might be ok. If you have the money then a good 120hz or 144hz monitor would still be very nice.
