Hey guys Im kinda new to toms hardware and I have some questions about my PC,
so i built a custom pc about a year ago and recently my gaming performance has been a little lower than i would like. (ill include my build at the bottom of this thread) I was planning on buying another same GPU and crossfire them for better performance but im not sure if my CPU would bottleneck my GPUs. if so is there anyway i could stop this from happening or would the bottleneck still increase my performance. Would overclocking help? (if so could someone link a guide)

Thanks - Ivan

As above - it isnt your CPU or your RAM.

I ran crossfired and single R9 290X on a triple monitor setup, i5 3570k at high settings in games. Very few problems at all - crossfire very much improved over the 7 series cards.

I have dropped to one card now and it is difficult to justify spending more on a second r9 290x or a new $500+ card to replace the r9 290x.

Gaming cards are holding their second hand value at the moment (after a hefty drop in prices during the sell off of cards used for crypto currency mining in 2014),

What you should upgrade to will depend on your $ resources and the second-hand market for cards on eBay.

If it was me, I would be looking at a better single card rather than a second for crossfire (but if the price difference was very marked I would have no issues going for a crossfire setup as you suggest) A good search and a regular eye on new and second hand card prices over a week or so will give you a good idea of what is what .

Have you made sure your power supply is up to crossfire requirements ? Can be a cost / inconvenience factor that is easy to overlook.
