[question] how to fully use 2 DDR3 channels at the same time

Hello guys,

I have a Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R motherboard with 3*2GB RAM 1333 MHZ sticks on one channel "white colored".
my question is: can I add 3 others 2 GB Memory sticks on the blue slots with different frequency? coz I tried & it didn't work, then how exactly does it work or what is the usage of 2 channels then? must it also be 1333MHZ.

Normally you can add 3 more sticks of ram to you motherboard. Likely the ram you have is not compatible. you should try to find memory similar is speed and voltage to your old sticks to ensure compatibility.

so they definitely wont work?even to the slowest speed? 3*1333 & 3*1600 Mhz

Mixing DRAM is a crapshoot, adding from a different package is a 50/50 maybe, what are the model #s of the old and new, with that we could try some adjustments

Kvr1333d3n9/2g

I have 4 sticks of the old & 3 sticks from new

6 slots on my x58a-ud3r

Might try with the old sticks first and set to 1333 9-10-10-27, DRAM voltage to 1.55 and raise your current QPI/VTT voltage (feeds the MC) up + 0.06 from current
