Hello,

I just finished my first build ever and I'm trying to boot Windows 7 from USB. I've made the installer using Boot Camp Assistant on my Macbook and it should be working. The only problem is that when I set it to Boot Priority #1 it says 'Please select proper boot device'.

My build is right here:

Does anybody have any idea how I can fix this??

It seems using the Boot Camp Assistant doesn't work well with Windows installs. Basically the Boot Camp Assistant is going to format the drive to work with EFI boot only (which makes sense given how Macs work), the problem is most boards by default expect to boot from MBR. Depending on your motherboard you may still be able to use it. When you boot there should be an option to press an f-key (usually F11 or F12 but your board may be different) to give you a boot manager/BBS/etc screen. You want to find an option to boot from a UEFI USB device. From there it should work.

Now if all that doesn't work, you can try running through the instructions here. It outlines how to create a bootable drive with an MBR instead of EFI. It looks to be a bit time consuming so I'd suggest trying to see which F key will let you choose which USB device to boot from first.

Tried the UEFI and if it boots, it boots automatically to the BIOS instead of the USB.

I tried running the instructions and was hopeful. Then I put the USB in my computer and then there was an infinite 10 seconds loop of some default thing that doesn't end.

Now seeing if I can install windows on my macbook to see if creating a USB from there will work. But the problem is I constantly get the 'Please select proper boot device', on my Macbook too and I'm kind of running out of options

Honestly, your best option is going to remake the USB on someone elses PC. The biggest factor seems to be that you're trying to get this all done on a Mac first.
