When I play games like team fortress 2, i will notice that when i start the game and i get into a match that the game will run smoothly but after a while, it will get random half second freezes for no reason it seems. I run the game at 300 fps without vsinc on. so performance is not an issue, I have been turning on vsinc so that i play the game at 60 fps without any screen tearing. I have tried a lot of things, I suspected it was my audio drivers not working but it wasn't that. Im suspecting its my hard drive that I keep all my games on. The hard drive is a WD Green 2tb hardrive that runs at 5400 rpm. Could my hard drive be too slow to play these games and should I possibly upgrade to a faster hard drive? . Help would be appreciated

So, I'm guessing the drive passed the Quick test? You should also run the Extended test, just in case. Although if disabling the audio card seems to resolve the problem, I guess it is the most likely culprit to cause this issue. Try updating its driver, or installing an older version. Sometimes newer driver may cause issues like that.

Let me know what are the results of the long test and if a different audio driver helps you with the problem.
Hey there, killer74777. Welcome to the community! :)

Sorry to hear you've been having issues with your drive. Basically an HDD shouldn't make your system freeze/hang if it's 5400RPM. You might see some FPS drop while loading larger maps, new areas, etc. but you shouldn't get freezes.
I'd recommend that you backup any important data which you might have on that drive, just to be on the safe side. After that go ahead and download DLG (Data Lifeguard Diagnostics) and run both tests (Quick and Extended), to see if there's anything unusual going on with the drive. Here's how to do that: How to test a drive for problems using Data Lifeguard Diagnostics for Windows.
I'd also advise you to try the HDD with a different SATA port and cables (or a different computer), to see if the same thing happens.

Please let me know how everything goes.

Thanks for tip, I did a quick test and found that whenever i disable the audio from the motherboard, When i play a game, it doesn't have these quick freezes. I also put the game into windowed mode and opened up task manager to look at the hard drives performance whenever there are these quick freezes and the hard drive will stay at 0% usage and as soon as the quick freeze happens, the usage on the hard drive goes straight up 33% and then back to 0% so idk if this is a problem with the hard drive or the audio on the motherboard or both

Ummm, yeahh. It could be drivers, or the game itself. I recommend downloading DDU (display driver uninstaller) and wiping all of the drivers off. When you re-install the drivers, if it's an NVIDIA make sure you disable GeForce Experience. It slows down performance in older games. What also works for me is deleting local content (Beware if you have mods) and re-installing it onto your fastest drive. Good luck! I love that game, and sometimes on some systems it gives me problems, all I want is to just play it sometimes worry free. My old 7800GS and single core Athlon ran the game stutter free, lol.
