Doubt about VRAM

I'm using a R9 270x with 2gigs of vram. Recently i ran Assassins creed syndicate and the game uses 1900mb of VRAM in low settings. But i set the graphic settings to ultra i.e 3110mb. its running in 60fps. But will this cause damage to the GPU??

Your system will just start putting things in system RAM if you exceed the available VRAM. System RAM is significantly slower and also takes longer to access compared to VRAM on the card. So if data that is required to render a scene has been moved from VRAM into system RAM, your performance will completely tank.

It won't damage anything though, and it's obviously not an issue for you because your fps is fine.
