Hi,

As the title says, when I go on 'my computer' on Windows 7, only my SSD is showing. I have a Sandisk 240gb SSD with Windows 7 on it, and a 1TB Western Digital Blue hard drive.

I just built my first ever PC yesterday. After I had built it, I booted it up and inserted my Windows 7 disc.

I was asked to pick which storage drive I wanted to install windows onto, (my Hard drive was an option, so I know it is connected properly) and I picked my SSD.

Then windows started installing, and eventually I was at my desktop screen. I installed all the standard drivers that come on discs with the motherboard and the GPU, and then it came to installing the programs that I wanted to download onto my hard drive, like anti-virus, Steam, etc, - That was when I realised that my hard drive wasn't showing up. I checked on disk management and it says that it's 'online', but it said "System reserved: 100MB NTFS" and then it had 931gb was "Unallocated"

I really don't know anything about Hard-drive "tech-speak", but I've heard words like "formatting", "partition" and "NTFS" and "AHCI" and I don't know what any of that means.

Sorry it was a lot of writing. If you made it this far, hopefully you can help me :(

Thanks in advance.

Rt click on the unallocated part of the drive and then select Initialize if it doesnt automatically start the new drive wizard and guide you thru it.

The 100MB system reserved is your boot files. Windows install wrote them there. This is a known issue.
You normally would only have the boot drive connected during install of windows.

Hey there, Snouzer!

Just like @popatim mentioned the 100MB system reserved partition consists of your boot files. You should have had only the SSD plugged into the SATA ports at the time of the Windows installation, because you might encounter some booting issues (a.k.a. OS confusion). If you have the time and nerves, I'd suggest you to reinstall the OS onto the SSD, but make sure the WD HDD is not connected until after the installation is completed.
You can now try to re-initialize the drive and the partition & format it according to your needs. Since you're new to this, I'd recommend you to check these articles from our knowledge base for assistance with the step-by-step:

Good luck! Hope it helps. :)
