I want to get a few 6TB HGST 7,200 hard drives to use with a USB3 docking station that specifies it will only work with up to 4TB drives. I will be plugging the dock and drive into my Mac. Does anyone know if the docking station will read the 6TB drive even though it specifies it only works with up to 4TB drives? Is there a work around of some sort if it will not read it?

Thanks.

It maybe just a liability warning, like "hey, we didn't test it, so don't bother us if it doesn't work." There is a known 2TB barrier but no known 4TB barrier.

Without knowing what specific docking station it is, I can't verify for sure. But, generally the ones that support 4Tb will also support larger too. It's the ones that only go up to 2Tb which usually can't read the larger drives.
