hey guys, i have an HP pavillion p7 1287c, CPU-Z reports that my pc is working on a Foxconn 2ADA motherboard, socket 1155

i have one stick of 4gb ddr3 ram 1600mhz (running at 1333) which is not enough for my needs
i wanted to upgrade to 8gbs, i bought another 4gb stick but after a lot of testing, i figured out my second RAM slot isn't working, when a stick is installed there, my pc boot on a permanent blackscreen without any bips

i have the same problem as this guy (seems he had one 8gb stick working)

the question is, does my motherboard really support a stick of 8GB, or do i have to change the motherboard to be able to install my 2 4gb sticks?
changing the RAM will cost me less money i guess, i just want to be safe

Yes, you divide the max memory but the number of slots and that's what you can add. an 8gb module will work fine. Just make sure you get the right voltages. Look at the specs for the modules they recommend and whatever brand you end up ordering, match the voltage...usually 1.5v or 1.35v.
