This would be a good choice given that budget cap.

Not the best unit in the world (hard to find a really GREAT unit sub-$50), but for the specs above it would work just fine and you wouldn't have to worry about the PSU possibly damaging your other hardware:

I found the EVGA equivalent for the same price

@24.99
Which is better?

Update: Found this deal as well. This unit has quite a higher wattage capacity and usually sits at the $80 mark, so getting it for a flat $50 from Amazon is a pretty great option as well:

Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 750W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($49.99 @ Amazon)

The Nex isn't EVGA's best units, but they still get decent reviews. For your specs it would be more than enough and I'd personally choose it over the CX I mentioned first.

Edit: To answer your question, the EVGA unit you linked is about neck-in-neck with the CX in terms of quality. EVGA models vary quite a lot in quality, so you really need to know them model by model to get a good one.

Reviews for the NEX 750:

@ Archaic: Are the links to the reviews on Guru3D and HighTechLegion that I provided invalid? I certainly don't want to recommend poor units, but the reviews that I've seen for the Nex 750 have all been passing.

If you have evidence to the contrary please let me know, always good to have the relevant facts.

The review you linked is NEX 750 G which is tier 3. The unit you recommended is NEX 750 B, tier4.

Good catch, the Guru3D was the G model. Looks like HighTechLegion was for B though. Haven't been able to fine any particularly poor professional reviews for the B model either, any chance you have a few links handy?

I'm not trying to be contrary, just looking for the bad review etc.

The HiTechLegion review was quite complimentary, so I'm curious as to why it ended up so low on the tier list...

So the best option would be to higher my budget and to get a better one?
In this case, which one would you recommend?
Thx :)
