Need to retrieve data from a hard drive but the partition doesn't show up in explorer or disk manager when connected via USB to another PC. Both PC are running Window 10. I should add that when the drive is connected to the other computer the easy suite partition on that drive shows up but not the C partition. Thanks.

Hey there again, Scott!

Be very careful with the re-assigning of drive letters, especially to the C: partition. Windows doesn't respond well to drive letter reassignment. I believe a better solution for your issue would be to use a third-party data recovery tool at your own risk, which could potentially let you access the whole HDD. Here are a couple of useful links from the community you should take a look at:

Another alternative would be to use a Ubuntu Live CD and see if you can gain access to files from there: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DataRecovery

Best of luck! Let me know how...
Welcome to the community, Scottsmiddleton!

If the drive is 3.5" form factor, you'd need an additional power supply (adapter) in order to get it to show in the other PC via USB.
Another thing you could try is plugging it internally via SATA and check if you'd be able to access everything on it.
I'd suggest you to go to Disk Management and check how the HDD's partitions appear there as well.
I assume this is the system partition from the other computer, do you have anything important stored on the C: partition that you wish to copy to the other Win 10 computer?

Keep me posted. Hope this helps.

Hi SuperSoph, Thank you for your reply. The HD in question is from my wife's laptop. The system board died and I need to send it in for warranty repair. Against all of my preaching she has stored all of her banking information and saved all of her passwords locally on that drive. I am attempting to connect that drive to my laptop using a USB adaptor. The drive is recognized by my computer but for some reason it only show the small easy suite partition the C partition doesn't show at all. When I go into disk manager it's the same thing. I know that I have done this in the past and all I had to do was go into disk manager and change the drive letter in order to get the partition to show up in explorer. My laptop as well as the drive from my wife's machine are running windows 10.
