4690K now or hold off and get a 6600K? Worth it or no?

I am going to be building a new computer soon and am having trouble deciding between 2 cpus. I was originally planning to go with the 4690K but then I started looking into the skylake 6600k and it got me interested in it. I know I will need a different motherboard and ddr4 memory, which leads me to my question. Should I just build a 4690K system with ddr3 memory, or should I save just a little bit more and go for the newest skylake processor and ddr4 memory? Will I really benefit from the newer cpu, or will the 4690K deliver similar performance? In terms of price to performance and "future-proofing" (although that doesn't really exist), is skylake the better option for the extra cost?

Could go either way, if the budget's there I'd go the newer 6600K, nice CPU, I paired one with a Hero and 32GB of Trident Z. Then again the 4690K is going to be viable for another 2-3 years any way, depending on what you do

I was looking up comparisons and benchmarks on the 2 and it seems like 4690K still holds its own. You are saying that I could build a system with it and not have to upgrade for another 2 - 3 years? I am building this computer to replace my console and I want it to be able play all of the triple A titles to come, by the way.

The i5-6600k is anywhere from 20%-25% more expensive thanks to retailer gouging. If you have DDR3 memory to recycle from an old build I'd go with the i5-4690k. Its not appreciably slower. In fact, in gaming its not slower at all.
