Possible Overclocking Bottleneck with the HD7950 and I5 2500K?

I recently did an overclock of my HD 7950 but the results were the same or even worse than stock, could this be because I have a stock i5 2500k? Will OCing my CPU have any effect on the effectiveness of the GPU Overclock?

Solution
Your 7950 IS THE equivalent of a R280 radeon card a bit faster then the 960 from Nvidia you should getting very good playable frame rates not the highest but med to high settings As said above a 970 or a R390 will yield you more.. You could always overclock your cpu a bit to see if that helps any but also as said older cards or any card may or may not overclock as well as a another its like the lotto some do a lot some do a little no 2 cpus or Gpus will yield the same results.

I wanted some extra frames here and there but it didn't work that way, idk why, you have any idea?

Overclocking yields mixed results. If your video card is getting old then you probably won't get much from overclocking it. The CPU you have overclocks well but you won't get any big fps increase from that. Your i5 should still be ok a couple more years. A GTX 970 or R9 390 would bring your system up to date for new games.

Yeah sorry to respond so late but the problem was fixed. Turns out that the GPU was a bit too high in temps for the OC to work well, now O get like 10 frames extra in gamea with my overclock and the temps are pretty good too.
