Ok so Im going to try to make this as short as possible.
I've had this computer for about a year and a half. I've been upgrading parts slowly as the money comes. Anyways. I used to be using 4 sticks of 1gb kingston at 800mhz. I upgraded to 4 sticks of 2gb XMS Corsair memory at 800mhz as well. When I first installed them the computer would not post at all. Everything booted up (hard drives, fans, etc) except the OS. So I tested 1 stick at a time in all 4 slots, and they all worked fine. If I inserted all 4 it would not post. So I took 1 out and tried booting with 3. Still, nothing. So I turned off the power supply and reset the cmos and it booted fine with 3 sticks. I wait for it to boot into windows, shut down, and install the 4th stick and it posts and boots fine. If I shut it down again and try to boot back up with all 4 sticks it will not post. Even if I just remove 1 stick of ram without resetting the cmos and trying to boot with just the 3 again it wont post unless I turn off the power supply and reset the cmos(no just resetting the cmos wont work, I must turn off the power supply). I've tried lowering the clock speed and setting the ram voltage manually as well as changing the North Bridge voltage to whatever I read on another forum. None of which worked. Now the other day my secondary hard drive with all my games died and for some reason when I tried to boot it said windows couldnt boot because of corrupt files, which makes no sense because my boot drive is fine and it was my "backup" drive that died. anyways I turned off my computer, unpluged my back up drive, and tried to boot again. It worked and posted fine with all 4 sticks of memory. And even if I turned it off it still would boot fine with all 4 sticks. Yesterday I decided to take it out to my shed and blow all the dust out of it. I plugged everything back up and it started not posting without booting with 3 sticks and resetting the cmos first. If ANYONE CAN HELP it would be soooooo greatly appreciated as this has been very frusturating for me and I appreciate your time. Thanks in advanced.
