Hello All,

I have recently installed a PCI-E USB 3.0 card onto my computer and seem to be running into some intermittent issues that are starting to get annoying.

First some background on my hardware:
Desktop: HP xw4600 Workstation - Running Windows 7
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 @ 3.16Ghz
Currently have 2 Hard Drives hooked up
Came with a graphics card: 768 MB NVIDIA Quadro FX1800
PSU: Delta Electronics, Model DPS-475CB-1 A (475 W PSU)

Prior to installing the PCI Express USB 3.0 card, the machine was running fine with no issues at all:

I installed the following card:
http://www.ianker.com/product/68UPPCIE-4SU

I installed this into the PCI-E x1 slot and connected power using a 4 pin molex extension from the PSU to the card itself.
Drivers installed just fine and no issues at all.
(One interesting note though: the pci e card came with a sata to 4 pin molex extension, which I tried at first, but then the computer did not turn on properly and flashed red and beeped multiple times)
Once I used the 4 pin molex extension and plugged that in to the card, no problem at all.

So here lies the problem I've been seeing:
Sometimes when the computer is about to go to sleep, the fan comes on really loud and the computer monitor goes black and I can't do anything. I have to do a hard power cycle.
Another thing I've noticed sometimes when I restart or turn on the computer, you hear the computer about to boot up then it shuts back down. I've never had the computer/fan go loud and then black on me while I'm using it though. Only when I go away from it or restart/turn on.

I see this is a 475W power supply. is this good enough or do I need another one? I saw a thread where someone mentioned this power supply and someone said its not a very good one.
Any other ideas on what this could be?
seems like this loud fan/ screen goes black happens at least once a day and its starting to get a little annoying. What I'll do for now is uninstall the card but I want to know what could be going wrong here.

I would appreciate the help!
PS. If this is in the wrong forum category, please move the thread.

Thanks!

Your near the minimum without the USB 3.0 card. Probably would be a good idea to get a bigger power supply.

Good Call Calvin. Completely forgot to check the power requirements of the card.

How many watt power supply do you recommend?
Other than this USB 3.0 card, I do not plan on installing anything else.
I was thinking of maybe getting a 600W PSU. I think that would be sufficient.
Any brands you could recommend? I want to make sure its a drop in replacement (same form fit). I believe most PSUs are the same unless its a really fancy one.
i would like to keep the budget at $75 or less which I think is reasonable based on what I've seen on new egg
