Hi everyone,
I just upgraded to a 28" 4K monitor and ever since then my computer has shut off and restarted every time I connect a Bluetooth device (headphones) to my computer or every time I try to join a game in Battlefield 4, just as the map finishes loading. When this happens after connecting a Bluetooth device, the screen goes BLACK and the computer restarts. When this happens after loading a map in Battlefield 4, the screen turns RED for a few seconds, then the computer restarts. I had no problems while using my 24" 1080p monitor before switching to a 4K monitor. However, even switching back to the 1080p monitor now will not solve the problem. I am currently connected to the 4K monitor with a Display Port cable. My computer is about 2 years old and gets ~ 5 hrs use per day. So far everything else works properly, including the game Need for Speed Rivals on Ultra settings in 4K. My computer did have some weird power issues when I tried to start it for the first time after connecting it to the 4K monitor, it took a few tries to get it turned on by unplugging and plugging the power cable back in.
Here's what I've tried so far with no improvement:
- Reinstalling Battlefield 4 & Bluetooth adapter drivers (WIDCOMM® Bluetooth Windows Software)
- Powering my monitor and computer through separate wall outlets
- Setting in-game graphics settings all to low
- I've tried reinstalling my video drivers to the latest version (AMD Radeon Crimson 15.11 x64 bit)
- Switching Graphics Card to other PCIe slot (nothing changed, everything else still works okay)
- Max CPU Core Temp = 40C (while idling)
- Max GPU temp = 35C (while idling)
I'm wondering if this is a power-related problem or a software problem.
Here's my Specs:
CPU: AMD FX-8320 Eight Core 3.5GHz (4.0 GHz Turbo)
CPU Cooler: SilenX EFZ-120HA5 120mm
Motherboard: MSI 970A-G43 (MS-7693) v3.0
RAM: 8GB (2x4)
GPU: AMD Radeon R9 270X (2GB)
SSD: 250GB SATA III Samsung 850 EVO
SSD: 112GB SATA III Kingston
Hard Drive: 500GB SATA III Western Digital
Power Supply: Corsair CX500 500W
OS: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
Monitor: Samsung U28E590D 4K UHD 28”
Peripherals:
2x External Hard Drives (USB 3.0)
Xbox controller wireless receiver
Bluetooth dongle
Mouse & Keyboard wireless receiver
Klipsch 2.1 Promedia computer speakers wireless adapter
Do I need to get a higher wattage power supply? If so how many watts would I need if I also plan on running xfire r9 270x?
Thanks!
